Swirl Heart Earrings

Love is forged from the soul and strengthened by the heart.

This week's earrings are made from silver and  topped with a crystal bead and can make a romantic addition to your outfits.  The earrings are on french hooks and are 1 7/8 inches long.  At the widest part, the hearts are 5/8" wide.

I wanted to make something to wear for Valentine's Day to add my collection of fun dangle earrings.  You can find these in my Etsy store

Thanks for reading and I'll be back next week with the finished earrings from the first Fan Fabulous project.

Picasso Rectangle Earrings

If you're looking for a different kind of earring these are for you. The rectangle beads are made from Czech glass with a Picasso looking design carved into them. The glass is an opaline violet and the
grooves and edges are highlighted in light brown.  Each side of the earring is a little different.  Round lilac Swarovski crystals cap each end of the rectangle and they hang from silver french hooks.

The Picasso beads have been in my stash for quite a while now and couldn't decide what to do with them, then I bough the lilac beads and knew they were a perfect compliment to the Picasso beads and would look great in an earring.

I like these these earrings a lot and was even tempted to keep them, but posted them in my Etsy store.  You can find them at https://www.etsy.com/listing/220844951/picasso-rectangle-earrings?ref=shop_home_active_1

Until next time, have a good week and stay warm.

Vintage Hearts

There are new earrings from my workroom to show off.  This week I’m getting into the spirit of Valentine’s Day with these vintage look earrings.   The antiqued copper make them look very vintage and the pink Swarovski crystals in the center bring an additional feminine look to them. These are a great gift for the woman in your life, or for yourself.

Copper is the metal to wear this year and the color of the year is Marsala, a wine color. These earrings will compliment your Masala outfit perfectly and many other colors too.

The airy design of the hearts makes them lightweight, and at a length of 1 and 3/4 inches they are great for any hair style.

These earrings can be found in my store at www.demdesigns.etsy.com

Have a great week and I'll see you next time.

Flower Power or Spring Fling

Many of the styles that I see lately remind me of the sixties, the pallazzo pants, the knit sweaters, tie dye everything, it's all so retro.  So to get into the spirit of the retro look I made these laser cut flower
earrings.  They evoke the feeling of spring with flowers everywhere but they also fit into the flower power category.  I mean really, just look at them, the frame is the shape of a flower and then inside the frame are lots more flowers.

I think these earrings would be great with a simple white shirt and blue jeans, but wear them with a tie dye t-shirt and a denim skirt and you have a time warp into the 60's.

There are only one pair of these earrings and you can see more pictures in my Etsy store.

Thanks for stopping by to read my blog.  Please feel free to make comments.

It's been a while, how have you been?

Yes, I know, my last post was in June... I've been either a slacker or way to busy to write, hmm, well I guess it's been a little bit of both.  But I'm back and will make an effort not to be gone for such a long time again.

While I've been gone I have been very busy creating and selling jewelry.  Just recently I started a new line of pendants called the Cheryl collection, inspired by a wonderful lady who loves to challenge my jewelry making skills.  A few weeks ago she came to me asked for a long necklace that has a heart pendant with a lot of bling.  Cheryl and her sister are singers and she wanted something to wear on stage with this gorgeous black dress that has a high neck and plain front.  So I made her this...

I was so inspired by the technique that I used that I started making other pendants using the same techniques and came up with 3 that I will be selling in my Etsy store in the Cheryl Collection section.  It may take a week or so to get them posted, but meanwhile here is a preview for you.

Vintage green earrings

In my last blog I talked about the color of the year, which is green.  As promised I’m bring more green pieces out for you to see.  These earrings are my favorite style and I have made myself earrings using several colors from the Swarovski Rivoli collection.

I used 12mm Swarovski Rivoli crystals which are set in vintage look TerraCast settings. The color of the crystal is called Chrysolite and looks like a beautiful pale green.  I think the Chrysolite and vintage setting make a fabulous combination. At shows I can’t keep the vintage look earrings in stock, they go quickly.  This is the first time I’ve used the Chrysolite, I usually put golden shadow or dark indigo in the vintage setting, so this is a first and I’m very happy with it.

Let me know what you think by leaving a comment.

Come back again for more jewelry that features green stones.

Happy New Year 2013

Happy New Year!

It's been a while since I posted here on my blog, the last time was in October.  I guess it's because I got really busy at the end of 2012.  The end of the year is big with craft fairs and getting ready for Christmas.

This year I've decided to post a lot about fashion trends and color. The color for 2013 as declared by the fashion industry is GreenGreen isn't just environmentally friendly. It's the color designers are reclaiming for 2013. And one particular shade--Emerald Green-- has been chosen as the color of 2013. So those of you born in May can break out your emeralds and wear them all year.

Why green? "Green is the most abundant hue in nature--the human eye sees more green than any other color in the spectrum," says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. "Symbolically, Emerald brings a sense of clarity, renewal and rejuvenation, which is so important in today's complex world." Green is also a color with a positive effect on the brain, releasing tension and reducing stress, which is why it is frequently used in color therapy, in schools and in hospitals.

From the grass-green emerald to the brilliant lime of peridot, green is moving back into use in the fashion world this year. Styles feature rich, deeply saturated shades that are sophisticated, feminine and bold. They're chic--not meek! Green is going boldly into winter and throughout the year ahead.

Get the look

Use greens generously--demure is not required. No subtle accents here; going green means wearing statement pieces with plenty of intense color. Bright greens are eye-catching without being too intrusive. As it's associated with a rare and expensive gemstone, Color of the Year Emerald Green is considered sophisticated, elegant and luxurious.
