Challenge Week 41

Want a pair of earrings that will go with most outfits?  The earrings that I made for this week’s challenge are the ones for you.

These earrings are part of the Shades of Grey Collection.  I made them with round shell beads, glass pearls and hematite rondelles.  They hang from silver plated French hooks and are 1 and ¾ inches long. Because they are neutral colors you can wear them with many outfits, including grey, black, white, even red.

More shades of grey to come next week.

Visit my website to see more of the Shades of Grey collection.

Challenge Week 36

Last week (week 35) I made a necklace that I called Shades of Grey and when I showed it to my sister she liked it and thought that I should make earrings to go with it.  I totally agreed with her because, well, it was such a great combination of beads I just couldn’t stop at a necklace.  Who knows, I may even make a bracelet.

The centerpiece of the earrings is the rectangle mother of pearl bead topped with a grey glass pearl.  I then added 2 leaves hanging from the bottom and in-between the pearl and the rectangle.  I took a picture of the necklace and earrings together (see below).  I think that whoever purchases these, either separately or together, is going to wear them a lot.  I’ve had them on display on my workroom table and can’t stop looking at them.

Lately I’ve seen a lot of grey in the fashion magazines.  Even Elle Décor showed several rooms done in grey with either white or another color like turquoise or blue.  If you have been reading my posts you may remember that I moved in September.  I had decided to do my living room in black and white with a hint of color, I was thinking of the blue that Martha Stuart uses a lot of, but I couldn’t find the right pieces and ended up with grey and highlights of red.  So, maybe I’m just on a grey kick and everyone is going to think that I should just get over it and that this piece isn’t as great as I think it is.  Voice your opinion, leave me some comments and let me know what you think.

See you next week. And no I’m not going to make the matching bracelet, at least not this week.  I have something in mind for Valentine’s Day to do for next time.

You can see more pictures of this item in my Etsy store.

Have a good week,
Denise

Challenge Week 16

As a change from all the black that I have been making I received a special order, which I'm using for my challenge piece, and it just happens not to have any black in it..

For week 16 I've made a ring, similar to another that is in my store. This ring is for a co-worker to give as a birthday gift and is made from campaign color freshwater pearls and sterling silver wire.  These pearls are going to look great on a tanned hand. This is a "wear with everything" piece of jewelry.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend. While you are enjoying your holiday, please remember the people that have fought for our country and for our freedom to enjoy this holiday.

New Necklace

Today I added a new necklace and earring set to my Etsy store. It's part of my new line and I am so excited about it.
It is made from glass pearls and jet crystals. Jet is the name of the color of the crystal but it really looks like a deep purple. There are also crystal roundels between some of the bead combinations.  I really like the look when you wear it because it looks like the beads are floating, it's very elegant.

The earrings are 2 crystals and a pearl on french hooks and are approximately 1 inch long.

You can see more pictures of this set in my Etsy store at www.demdesigns.etsy.com   There is also an Etsy mini at the bottom of my blog.
